Real estate, construction law and government contracts

Real estate is an area subject to a complex set of regulations. Modifying a site or a building can often have far-reaching legal implications and any number of questions and disputes may arise. Our department for real estate, construction law and government contracts is in an excellent position to assist clients in such matters.

Take for example, our specialisation in construction law, a field that requires extensive technical knowledge and often gives rise to disputes that must be arbitrated. The lawyers at GSJ are there to help the clients in this practice area. Sometimes negotiations alone result in an acceptable settlement; in other cases, the matter must be settled in court.

Government contracts is another area in which the department works, whereby specific legislation is used to determine how contracts must be put out to tender, awarded and carried out.

Closely related to real estate and government contracts is the public-private co-operation, a system whereby the government joins forces with private companies to carry out projects that have a socio-economic impact. A new legal field is developing around the various forms of collaboration of this type, and our lawyers are following it closely.
